So today the new Keane album was released. It’s pretty good. It’s also very different from their first 2 albums. It has a retro 80’s vibe to it. If you didn’t care for that quirky electronic sound then, this isn’t the album for you. The deluxe album includes a couple of interviews with the band as well as demo recordings of most all the songs. The demos are recorded by Tim who is the primary songwriter for the group. Tim isn’t terrible, but I can see why they leave the singing to Tom. Still, hearing Tim sing reminds me a bit of David Byrne from the Talking Heads.
There are also a couple of videos available on YouTube. The video for Spiralling reminds me of the Max Headroom days of old. How’s that for an old 80’s reference? The video for the single “The Lovers are Losing” is total crap. There, I said it. I may love the band but that doesn’t mean I have to love their bad videos. The video makes no sense. Skip it. You have more important things to do. Here is the video for Spiralling.

So my Keane fund is slowly but surely growing each week. Since the guys are kicking off their European tour, I have plenty of time to amass my concert fund for later next year. It’s nice to have something like this to look forward to. I am still hoping to see them in some new cities. I know eventually there are going to be some repeats, but there are still plenty of places to go!
